Ian McHarg is an independent military historian, author, and leading authority on the Second World War Commandos and other wartime Special Forces.

He writes about their tough training, daring raids, and indomitable fighting spirit. His narrative-based work is grounded on his own military experience, and more than twenty years of historical research, primary source archives, and veteran interviews.

BOOKS & WRITING

Ian is the author of Litani River: The Daring World War Two Commando Raid, Syria 1941, an untold story based on unit war diaries, official reports, personal recollections, and interviews with surviving members of the Commando. His historical fiction series, The Butcher & Bolt Novels, draws directly on real commando operations and research, blending narrative storytelling with historical authenticity.
